"Tomorrow"

We checked out the movie "Annie" from the library and Hope has wanted to watch it non-stop. She woke up at 6:30 the past two mornings so she could turn it on again. EJ has, obviously, been paying attention too. I caught her on video several times throughout the day.

And as we were headed to bed . . .

Unfortunately, she pays just as much attention when Spongebob is on. :0/

EJs Walk to the Park

I've lived in Colorado for over 20 years, and have never thought of it as a windy place. Until this year. The wind has been ridiculous! Anytime we have a warm day, it's ruined by the wind. A couple of days ago I went out on our porch mid-morning, and it was a gorgeous, sunny, 60 degrees. With no wind! I decided to put EJ in the stroller and go for a walk. Except when I opened my trunk I realized we had left the stroller in Brandon's car over the weekend. The park is pretty close, so I figured I could just carry Ellis over and let her walk a little bit. Well, she ended up walking the WHOLE way over there by herself. Like I said, it's not that far. If I was any good at estimating distance, I'd give an estimate, but I'm not, so I won't even try. But for little one year old legs, it's a pretty good hike! It took us quite awhile, but she had a great time exploring and picking things up - sticks, rocks, dead grass. She even got her first skinned knee and didn't shed a tear! She's pointing it out in one of the pictures.

Luckily we went before lunch time, because it was a very windy afternoon!

Big Girl

When EJ was born I had hoped that I could nurse her for a year and skip the whole formula thing, but said I would be happy if we got through six months. Well, here we are at 1 year, two weeks and we are officially DONE!
It's very liberating to know I don't always need to be around at bedtime, or get up with her at 5:30 in the morning, or be the only one she reaches for when she feels hungry, or lug the big, heavy pump around everytime I'm going to be gone for more than 4 hours.
But, still . . . tears come to my eyes when I realize that I don't need to be around at bedtime or get up with her at 5:30 in the morning, or that I won't be the only one she reaches for when she feels hungry. There's nothing I'll miss about the big, heavy pump.
I guess this is what they're supposed to do . . . grow up. Sometimes I just wish it didn't have to happen so fast.
